This statement applies to content published on the vnfutures.org.uk domain.

This website is run by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). It is designed to be used by as many people as possible. We’ve built this website using the Avada WordPress Theme as it follows the Web content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA. We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

You should be able to:

• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’).

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard (WCAG v2.1 AA) due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Forms on this site make use of an anti-spam tool called reCAPTCHA that is provided by Google. This results in a form element that does not include a valid label element and as such is non-compliant with WCAG v2.1 AA. (Criterion 2.5.3 Label in Name (A))

The modular nature of the website theme with standard sidebar and footer headings results in some pages having a non-logical heading hierarchy that can inhibit the use of screen readers or other similar assistive technologies and that is non-compliant with WCAG v2.1 AA. (Criterion 1.3.1 Info and relationships (A))

The home page contains empty link errors for banner slides which are non-compliant with WCAG v2.1 AA. These are being worked through to be corrected in a way that does not interfere with the pages’s core functionality. (Criterion 1.3.1 Info and relationships (A) and Criterion 2.4.4 Link purpose (in context) (A))

The VN Futures Report and Action Plan (2016) underpins and guides the VN Futures project work. The key aims and actions of the project are featured as accessible HTML content at https://vnfutures.org.uk/about/our-aims/. The full scope of the report and resulting action plan is only available as a non-accessible PDF.

Webinar videos

Some webinar recordings embedded as videos in our ‘Resources’ section do not have captions/transcripts.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services, or provide captions/transcripts for pre-recorded time based media published before 23 September 2020.
