The VN Futures Board met on Friday 21st February 2020 and warmly welcomed two new members to the board, Matthew Rendle RCVS VN Council Vice Chair and Jo Oakden BVNA Junior Vice President.

The meeting started with an update from the Project Manager Jill Macdonald on the progress of the working groups, including details of the series of three webinars developed by the careers progression group and the School Ambassadors Pilot which launched in November

The project is about to enter the last 12 months of this five year period and the majority of the day’s discussions were around the progress that has been made so far, what would be the focus for the next 12 months, and planning how to consult with the profession about what comes next.

Jo Hinde added: “We had a thoroughly productive and enjoyable day assessing the multitude of tasks that have been undertaken so far and the successes seen. We would like to take this opportunity to send a sincere thank you to everyone who has ever contributed to the VNF project.”

The Board also confirmed plans for attendance at BVNA Congress and to delivering a stream of lectures at BSAVA congress. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic BSAVA Congress is cancelled, however it is hoped that there will be opportunity to deliver the stream online, so please watch out for updates.

Racheal Marshall commented: whilst it is disappointing that we are unable to deliver the stream of lectures at BSAVA, we fully support the difficult decision that BSAVA had to make and look forward to attending BSAVA Congress in 2021.
